Giants Shortstop Brandon Crawford, 37, Retires After 14 Seasons, Two Titles, Four Gold Gloves
Nov 27, 2024, 11:55 PM
Brandon Crawford, the longtime shortstop for the San Francisco Giants, announced his retirement at age 37 on Wednesday via Instagram after a 14-year career. A key part of two World Series championship teams in 2012 and 2014, Crawford earned three All-Star selections, four Gold Gloves, and a Silver Slugger Award. He played 1,682 regular-season games and 43 postseason games, amassing 1,404 hits, 295 doubles, 44 triples, and 147 home runs. In 2021, he finished fourth in MVP voting. Crawford holds the franchise record for games played at shortstop and is considered one of the best two-way shortstops of his generation. Bruce Bochy, his former manager, praised Crawford's bond with the team and the city, noting his achievement as a homegrown talent leading at a storied position.
