Boeing has agreed to plead guilty to a criminal fraud conspiracy charge related to two deadly 737 MAX crashes that occurred in Indonesia and Ethiopia in 2018 and 2019, resulting in the deaths of 346 people. The plea deal, which must be approved by a federal judge, will see Boeing pay a fine of $243.6 million. Additionally, Boeing will face a criminal fine of up to $487.2 million, install a corporate monitor, spend $455 million on compliance and safety, and undergo three years of probation. The agreement allows Boeing to avoid a criminal trial and resolve the US Department of Justice investigation into the crashes, which included misleading the FAA.
