33,000 Boeing Workers to Strike at Midnight After Rejecting 25% Pay Increase
Sep 13, 2024, 04:45 AM
Boeing factory workers are set to go on strike after rejecting a contract proposal that included a 25% pay increase over four years. This marks the first strike at Boeing in 16 years. The strike, which will begin at midnight Pacific Time, was overwhelmingly approved by 96% of the workers, with 94.6% voting against the contract. Approximately 33,000 workers, primarily based in Washington, will participate in the walkout. The strike is expected to halt production of Boeing's strongest-selling jets, exacerbating existing output delays and adding to the company's mounting debt. The walkout will significantly impact Boeing’s Seattle commercial jet hub.
