Virginia Primaries: Bob Good Leads Trump-Backed McGuire by 290 Votes, Vindman and Subramanyam Win
Jun 18, 2024, 11:58 PM
The primary elections in Virginia have drawn significant attention, particularly the contest between House Freedom Caucus Chair Bob Good and Trump-backed challenger John McGuire. The race has been extremely close, with Good leading by a narrow margin of 290 votes with 87% of the ballots counted. Liberty U. results put Good ahead by 369 votes. Good is currently ahead by 142 votes, with a 50.1%-49.9% lead over McGuire. McGuire, endorsed by former President Donald Trump and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, has accused Good of backstabbing Trump by supporting Ron DeSantis. Despite Trump's vigorous endorsement, the outcome remains uncertain, with a recount likely if the margin stays within 1%. In other notable results, Eugene Vindman, a key figure in Trump's first impeachment, won the Democratic primary for Virginia's 7th Congressional District. Suhas Subramanyam secured the Democratic nomination for Virginia's 10th Congressional District, while Mike Clancy won the Republican primary for the same seat.
