Broncos' Bo Nix Makes NFL History: 300 Yards, 4 TDs, 80% Completion Earns AFC Offensive Player of the Week
Nov 20, 2024, 05:00 PM
Denver Broncos rookie quarterback Bo Nix delivered a historic performance in Week 11, becoming the first rookie in NFL history to throw for over 300 passing yards, four passing touchdowns, and complete 80% of his passes in a single game. According to NFL Next Gen Stats, Nix achieved the highest Completion Percentage Over Expectation (+7.3%) and the most Expected Points Added per dropback (+0.61) in any game this season. Over his last four games, he has amassed 11 touchdowns with just one turnover. Nix also joins Dak Prescott and Justin Herbert as the only rookies with multiple games of at least 75% completion rate and three passing touchdowns. His outstanding play earned him the AFC Offensive Player of the Week honor, making him the first Broncos quarterback to receive the award since Trevor Siemian in 2016 and the first rookie quarterback in franchise history to do so. Teammate Pat Surtain praised Nix, stating he is playing "at an MVP level." Nix has been nominated multiple times for NFL Rookie of the Week. His performances have vaulted him into the Offensive Rookie of the Year race, possibly ahead of contenders like Jayden Daniels. Under head coach Sean Payton, Nix is effectively leading the Broncos' offense, signaling that the team may have found its franchise quarterback successor to Peyton Manning.
