World of Warcraft Developers Unionize 500 Employees, Form Largest Union at Blizzard
Jul 24, 2024, 07:32 PM
The development team behind World of Warcraft, one of the world’s biggest and longest-running MMORPGs, has officially unionized, marking a significant milestone for game worker organizing efforts. The new union, which comprises over 500 developers, is Blizzard Entertainment's largest and most inclusive union to date. This move expands organized labor’s presence at Microsoft, which now includes 1,750 unionized employees. The union includes designers, engineers, producers, artists, and quality assurance testers, and is part of the Communications Workers of America (CWA). This follows the recent unionization of Bethesda Game Studios' employees. Activision Blizzard's World of Warcraft team is now part of this growing trend.
