Lively filed a complaint with the California Civil Rights Department, accusing Baldoni of sexual harassment and launching a retaliatory social media campaign against her. Heard, who experienced a similar situation during her defamation trial with ex-husband Johnny Depp, stated that social media misinformation is 'as horrifying as it is destructive.' Baldoni hired the same PR crisis manager, Melissa Nathan, that Depp used during his trial against Heard. Lively's complaint also mentions that Baldoni's team engaged in 'social manipulations' to change the narrative during the film's promotion by Sony Pictures. Lively's husband, Ryan Reynolds, was present during a meeting addressing her concerns. Baldoni's attorney, Bryan Freedman, has denied the allegations, calling them 'categorically false' and suggesting that any negative attention towards Lively was organic.
