Armand Duplantis Sets New World Record at 6.25m, Wins Gold in Pole Vault at Paris 2024 Olympics

Armand 'Mondo' Duplantis of Sweden has set a new world record in the pole vault at the Paris 2024 Olympics, clearing 6.25 meters (20 feet, 6 inches). Duplantis, who also won gold, broke his own previous world record of 6.24 meters set earlier in 2024. This achievement marks his ninth career world record. Duplantis successfully defended his Olympic title, becoming the first man to retain a pole vault Olympic crown since Bob Richards in 1956. He also set a new Olympic record, surpassing the previous mark of 6.03 meters. The competition saw Duplantis clear multiple heights, including 5.85 meters, 5.95 meters, and 6.10 meters, before achieving the new world record. His victory solidifies his status as the greatest pole vaulter of all time. Notably, LSU's Duplantis competed alongside Sam Kendricks of the USA and Emmanouil Karalis of Greece.
