U.S. DOJ Expands Antitrust Lawsuit Against RealPage, Adds Six Major Landlords Over Algorithmic Pricing Scheme
Jan 7, 2025, 09:52 PM
The U.S. Department of Justice, along with the attorneys general of 10 states, has expanded its antitrust lawsuit against RealPage, a property management software company, by adding six major landlords to the case. The landlords named in the lawsuit are Greystar Real Estate Partners LLC, Blackstone's LivCor LLC, Camden Property Trust, Cushman & Wakefield Inc and Pinnacle Property Management Services LLC, Willow Bridge Property Company LLC, and Cortland Management LLC. These landlords are accused of participating in an algorithmic pricing scheme that has harmed millions of American renters. The scheme allegedly involved sharing sensitive rental pricing information and using RealPage's algorithms to coordinate and keep rents high. The landlords operate more than 1.3 million rental units across 43 states and the District of Columbia. The Justice Department seeks to end practices that prioritize profits over the affordability of housing for millions of people across the country.
