Chargers' Cameron Dicker Sets NFL Record with 57-Yard Fair Catch Free Kick, First Since 1976
Dec 20, 2024, 02:43 AM
Los Angeles Chargers kicker Cameron Dicker made NFL history by successfully converting a 57-yard fair catch free kick to close out the first half during a game against the Denver Broncos. This is the first successful fair catch free kick since 1976, when Ray Wersching of the then-San Diego Chargers achieved the feat. Since then, nine attempts have been made without success until Dicker's kick. Dicker's 57-yard field goal is the longest successful fair catch free kick in NFL history, surpassing the previous record of 52 yards set by Paul Hornung in 1964. The Chargers remain the only team to have successfully executed a fair catch free kick since the AFL-NFL merger.
