26-Year-Old Suspect Luigi Mangione Linked to CEO's Murder with Ghost Gun Evidence
Dec 11, 2024, 08:23 PM
Law enforcement authorities have linked 26-year-old Luigi Mangione to the fatal shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson in New York City. Fingerprints belonging to Mangione matched those found on a water bottle recovered near the scene, sources say. The ghost gun found in Mangione's possession when he was arrested in Pennsylvania matched shell casings found at the crime scene, according to NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch. Mangione was arrested on Monday at a McDonald's in Pennsylvania and is currently contesting extradition to New York. A notebook containing his alleged plans, including references to the Unabomber's manifesto, was also recovered. His family has expressed they are 'devastated' by the events. Authorities are concerned about possible copycat incidents as 'wanted' posters targeting healthcare CEOs have appeared in New York City.
