Zelensky Reveals 43,000 Ukrainian Soldiers Killed, Claims Russian Losses Exceed 750,000
Dec 8, 2024, 11:45 AM
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that Ukraine has lost 43,000 soldiers killed in action since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion in February 2022. Additionally, 370,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been wounded, with approximately half returning to duty. Zelensky claimed that Russian forces have suffered even greater losses, with over 198,000 soldiers killed and more than 550,000 wounded, totaling casualties exceeding 750,000. He noted that since September, Russia has been losing soldiers at a ratio of five to one compared to Ukrainian losses. This marks the first time Ukraine has publicly disclosed its military casualty figures. Zelensky made these remarks in response to statements by former U.S. President Donald Trump, who claimed that Ukrainian losses exceeded 400,000 troops.
