Lukashenko Confirms Over a Dozen Nuclear Warheads in Belarus, Plans 'Oreshnik' Missile Deployment by Late 2025
Dec 10, 2024, 10:26 AM
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has confirmed that his country now possesses more than a dozen nuclear warheads, asserting that he personally oversaw their covert transport into Belarus, stating, 'They didn't even notice how we brought them in here.' He emphasized that despite skepticism from opponents who believe it's a joke, the nuclear weapons are indeed on Belarusian soil. During a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Lukashenko announced plans to deploy the new Russian 'Oreshnik' intermediate-range missile system in Belarus by the end of 2025. The missiles will be supplied free of charge by Russia, while Belarus will manufacture the launchers domestically. Lukashenko stated that Belarus has about 30 potential sites for deploying the Oreshnik system, selecting locations to minimize distance to targets. He stressed that Belarus will determine the targets for the missile system, with Russia assisting in their operation, declaring, 'We will press the button together, God forbid, if necessary.' Lukashenko warned that any violation of Belarusian borders would elicit an immediate response, potentially involving nuclear weapons.
