Alex de Minaur Withdraws from Wimbledon with Hip Injury, Djokovic Advances to Semi-Finals
Jul 10, 2024, 11:37 AM
Alex de Minaur has withdrawn from his Wimbledon quarter-final match against Novak Djokovic due to a hip injury. De Minaur, who was seeded ninth, sustained the injury during his previous match against Arthur Fils. A scan confirmed a tear in his hip cartilage, and he cited a high risk of worsening the injury if he continued to play. De Minaur expressed that he was 'devastated' by the situation. As a result, Djokovic, a seven-time Wimbledon champion, advances to the semi-finals without playing. The 37-year-old Djokovic will face the winner of the match between Taylor Fritz and Lorenzo Musetti in the semi-finals.
