Cori Bush Loses Primary to Wesley Bell in Missouri's 1st District with 54.2% to 42.8%
Aug 7, 2024, 01:14 AM
Democratic Representative Cori Bush, a member of the progressive 'Squad,' has lost her primary election in Missouri's 1st Congressional District to St. Louis County prosecutor Wesley Bell. Bush, known for her anti-Israel stance, faced significant opposition from pro-Israel groups such as AIPAC, which invested over $8 million in the race to support Bell. With 26% of the vote reported, Bell led with 54.2% (19,215 votes) compared to Bush's 42.8% (15,187 votes). Earlier reports showed Bell leading with 67.4% to Bush's 29.6%. Bush's defeat marks the second loss for a 'Squad' member this year, following Jamaal Bowman's defeat in June.
