VisitMistral AI's Le Chat Now Uses AFP's 38 Million Stories for Enhanced Accuracy
Jan 16, 2025, 09:52 AM
Agence France-Presse (AFP) and French AI startup Mistral AI have entered into a partnership that allows Mistral's chatbot, Le Chat, to utilize AFP's news reports to provide users with verified information. This collaboration aims to enhance the accuracy and reliability of Le Chat's responses, particularly in areas where factual and up-to-date information is crucial. The agreement marks Mistral's first content deal of this nature, reflecting its ambition to expand beyond being just a foundation model maker. AFP, one of the world's leading news agencies, will provide Le Chat with access to its extensive archive of over 38 million stories since 1983, as well as its daily production of 2,300 news wires in six languages: Arabic, English, French, German, Portuguese, and Spanish. This partnership also comes at a time when AFP is diversifying its revenue sources, following Meta's decision to end its third-party fact-checking program in the U.S.
