A Russian naval officer was killed in a powerful car explosion in Sevastopol, occupied Crimea, on November 13, 2024. The explosion occurred near a supermarket, killing the driver, identified as Captain 1st Rank Valery Trankovsky, Chief of Staff of the 41st Brigade of Missile Ships and Boats of the Black Sea Fleet. Witnesses described the explosion as extremely powerful, scattering car parts across the street. Sevastopol Governor Mikhail Razvozhayev stated that sabotage could not be ruled out, and security forces are investigating the incident. The explosion is believed to have been caused by an improvised explosive device. Trankovsky was reportedly involved in missile strikes against Ukraine.
