President-elect Trump Urges Senate Leaders to Allow Recess Appointments; Rick Scott May Commit
Nov 10, 2024, 07:24 PM
President-elect Donald J. Trump, following his victory in the 2024 U.S. Presidential Election, has made statements regarding the forthcoming Senate leadership race. He asserted that "Any Republican Senator seeking the coveted LEADERSHIP position in the United States Senate must agree to Recess Appointments (in the Senate!), without which we will not be able to get people confirmed in a timely manner. Sometimes the votes can take two years, or more." The Republican Party is set to hold a 53-47 majority in the Senate. Speculation suggests that Senator Rick Scott could commit to Trump's stipulation.
