In a historic milestone, over one million claims have been approved under the PACT Act, a landmark legislation aimed at providing healthcare and benefits to veterans exposed to toxic substances during their service. The PACT Act, signed into law two years ago, has significantly expanded VA benefits, ensuring that veterans receive the care they deserve. This includes nearly 900,000 veterans who are now receiving healthcare benefits, with specific numbers highlighted in various states such as 22,000 in Washington, 32,000 in Ohio, 21,000 in Michigan, 6,000 in Hawai‘i, 20,000 in Colorado, and 147,000 in Florida. The legislation also provides a monthly stipend for spouses who have lost loved ones due to toxic exposure. Since its enactment, the VA has distributed $5.7 billion in benefits to 888,000 veterans and survivors. The Biden administration and various lawmakers have expressed their commitment to continue supporting veterans and their families, ensuring that no veteran faces barriers to accessing the justice and care they deserve.
