Watchdog Report Reveals Biden's Education Department Spent Over $1 Billion on DEI Grants
Dec 12, 2024, 07:00 PM
According to a report released by the watchdog group Parents Defending Education, the U.S. Department of Education under President Joe Biden has allocated over $1 billion in grants promoting Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives since 2021. The funds reportedly include $489,883,797 for race-based hiring, $343,337,286 for general DEI programming, and $169,301,221 for DEI mental health initiatives. Critics argue that this spending is a misallocation of taxpayer dollars and that DEI programs do not advance inclusion or diversity but instead dismiss merit and promote bias. Some have labeled DEI initiatives as 'illegal' and called for their dismantling. Former President Donald Trump has pledged to abolish the Department of Education, stating, 'We want to move education back to the states.'
