Big 12 to Distribute Record $470 Million to 14 Member Schools for 2023-24
May 31, 2024, 05:54 PM
Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark announced that the conference will distribute a record $470 million in revenue to its 14 member schools this year for the 2023-24 season. This milestone comes despite the dilution of member distribution due to the addition of four new schools: Houston, UCF, Cincinnati, and BYU. Yormark emphasized that the Big 12 is 'more relevant now than we’ve ever been' and remains 'open for business,' though he is not actively exploring further expansion. The new members received $18 million this year and will receive $19 million next year, with a full share starting in the 2025-26 season. Yormark also highlighted the interest of private equity in college sports as a validation of the growth and future potential of college athletics. He noted that the Big 12 will have parity and depth, making every game compelling throughout the season.
