Francesco Bagnaia Shines at Mugello Italian GP with Ducati One-Two Finish
Jun 2, 2024, 12:07 PM
Francesco Bagnaia emerged as the standout performer at the Italian Grand Prix at Mugello, securing multiple victories over the weekend. Bagnaia was the fastest in the second practice session for Ducati, despite facing a post-session investigation and a clash with Alex Marquez. He also claimed his first MotoGP sprint win of 2024, cutting his points deficit to championship leader Jorge Martin, who crashed out. In the main race, Bagnaia led a Ducati one-two finish, with Enea Bastianini overtaking Martin on the final lap to secure second place. Jorge Martin, despite a crash in the sprint, set a new lap record during qualifying and took pole position. Marc Marquez qualified fourth after a crash but finished second in the sprint race. Bagnaia's victory marked his third successive win at the Italian GP, solidifying his dominance at his home race.
