Novak Djokovic Withdraws from French Open Quarterfinals Due to Torn Meniscus
Jun 4, 2024, 03:28 PM
Novak Djokovic has withdrawn from the French Open due to a torn meniscus in his right knee, confirmed by MRI scans. The injury was sustained during his fourth-round victory against Francisco Cerundolo. Djokovic, the defending champion and World No. 1, was set to face Casper Ruud in the quarterfinals. This marks the first time since 2004 that the French Open quarterfinals will not feature any of the men's Big Three. The withdrawal ends Djokovic's title defense and raises concerns about his participation in future tournaments, including Wimbledon. Jannik Sinner will become the new men’s World No.1.
