Cori Bush Loses Missouri Primary to AIPAC-Backed Wesley Bell by 12 Points
Aug 7, 2024, 03:02 AM
Democratic Representative Cori Bush, a member of the progressive 'Squad,' has lost her primary election in Missouri's 1st Congressional District. Bush was defeated by Wesley Bell, the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney, who was backed by pro-Israel groups such as AIPAC. Significant financial contributions, reportedly over $8.5 million, were made to support Bell's campaign against Bush. This marks the second defeat of a 'Squad' member in recent months, following Jamaal Bowman's primary loss in June. With 94% of the votes reported, Bell led Bush by 12 points, 54%-42%.
