Eagles Rest Saquon Barkley, 101 Yards Short of NFL Rushing Record

Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley will not play in the team's final regular-season game against the New York Giants, head coach Nick Sirianni announced. Barkley finished the season with 2,005 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns on 345 carries, leaving him 101 yards shy of breaking Eric Dickerson's NFL single-season rushing record of 2,105 yards. The Eagles, locked into the No. 2 seed for the playoffs, have decided to rest key starters, including Barkley, to prioritize health over individual records. Sirianni acknowledged the significance of the record and said the decision 'wasn't an easy one' but emphasized doing what's best for the team. Barkley becomes the ninth player in NFL history to rush for over 2,000 yards in a season.
