Red Bull and Sergio Pérez to Split After 2024 Season; Replacement Yet to Be Announced
Dec 18, 2024, 05:30 PM
Red Bull Racing and Sergio 'Checo' Pérez have mutually agreed to part ways after four years together, effective after the 2024 season, the team announced. Pérez, who joined Red Bull in 2021, secured five victories—including his first with the team at the 2021 Azerbaijan Grand Prix—29 podiums, and was the subchampion in 2023. He played a crucial role in helping the team win two Constructors' Championships alongside four-time world champion Max Verstappen. Christian Horner, Red Bull's Team Principal, expressed gratitude for Pérez's contributions, describing his victories on street circuits as a mark of his determination to always push the limits. Pérez thanked the team, saying, 'Thank you for these four years @redbullracing I wish you the best.' Max Verstappen also thanked Pérez, stating, 'We’ve had some amazing moments together that I’ll always remember.' The team has not yet announced who will replace Pérez for the 2025 season, though names like Liam Lawson have been mentioned in reports.
