Packers' McKinney Leads NFL with 6th Interception, Jacobs TD Secures 7-0 Lead Over Jaguars
Oct 27, 2024, 05:48 PM
Green Bay Packers defensive back Xavier McKinney has achieved his sixth interception of the season in less than 7.5 games, making him the NFL leader in interceptions. This is the highest number of interceptions by a Packers player since Casey Hayward in 2012. McKinney's interception came against Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence, whose pass was intended for Romeo Doubs. Jeff Hafley had advised McKinney not to get bored with quarterbacks not testing him. The interception led to a touchdown by Josh Jacobs, aided by a 21-yard DPI penalty, putting the Packers ahead 7-0. The Packers' defense has been formidable, intercepting 10 of 233 attempts this season, making them the second-best in the NFL. In contrast, Packers quarterback Jordan Love has struggled, leading the NFL with nine interceptions on just 189 attempts, the worst among qualified quarterbacks. In the game against the Jaguars, Love threw his ninth interception at the Jaguars' 6-yard line, which was picked off by rookie Jarrian Jones.
