Texas Beats Texas A&M 17-7 in Rivalry Renewal, Advances to SEC Title Game Against Georgia
Dec 1, 2024, 04:14 AM
In their first meeting since 2011, renewing a rivalry that had been on hiatus for 13 years due to conference realignment, the No. 3 Texas Longhorns defeated the No. 20 Texas A&M Aggies 17-7 at Kyle Field in College Station. Texas led 17-0 at halftime, with the Aggies' offense overpowered by the Longhorns' defense. Despite a third-quarter touchdown by Texas A&M, Texas secured their 11th consecutive true road win. With this victory, the Longhorns close out an 11-1 regular season in their first year as members of the Southeastern Conference (SEC), earning a spot in the SEC Championship Game. Texas will face the No. 7 Georgia Bulldogs on December 7 at 4 p.m. EST in Atlanta, broadcast on ABC. The matchup will be a rematch of Georgia's previous 30-15 win over Texas in Austin, and the Longhorns will seek to avenge that loss.
