US Drone Strike in Syria Kills Three Pro-Iran Fighters
Jun 22, 2024, 04:46 PM
An American drone strike in eastern Syria near the Iraq border resulted in the death of Abdullah Razzaq Anoun Al-Safi, a member of the Iraqi Shiite militia Kataib Sayyid al-Shuhada. The strike occurred during a reconnaissance and surveillance patrol. The Islamic Resistance in Iraq, a coalition of Iran-backed militants, confirmed the death and vowed vengeance. A war monitor reported that three pro-Iran fighters, including at least two Iraqis, were killed in the strike. The incident is part of ongoing tensions in the region, where Iran-backed groups have been active.
