Xiaomi's YU7 SUV to Challenge Tesla Model Y in China, Launching Mid-2025
Dec 9, 2024, 05:11 PM
Xiaomi Corp. has unveiled its second electric vehicle (EV), the YU7 SUV, set to launch in June or July 2025. This model, targeting the mainstream market, will compete with Tesla's Model Y in China. The YU7 features dual motors and an NMC battery from CATL, with a length of 196 inches, matching that of the Tesla Model X. Xiaomi aims to become one of the world's top five automakers with this expansion into the EV market. The company has already launched the SU7, a Model 3-sized car, selling 130,000 units since its launch in March. The YU7's design has been compared to the Ferrari Purosangue, and it is expected to be a significant player in China's EV market, potentially becoming one of the best-selling premium electric SUVs according to Goldman Sachs.
