Parolee Chad Irish Charged in Kips Bay Murder of NYC Activist Found in Sleeping Bag
Jul 9, 2024, 09:10 AM
The decomposing body of 31-year-old NYC homeless activist Yazmeen Williams was found wrapped in a sleeping bag and dumped outside a building in Kips Bay. She had been shot in the head. A person of interest, Chad Irish, a parolee with a lengthy criminal record and 21 prior arrests, has been taken into custody and charged in connection with the crime. Irish, who uses a motorized wheelchair and lived in the NYCHA public housing unit, was attacked by an angry mob as police detained him at the Straus Houses. The community and Williams' family are calling for justice.
