Gonzaga to Join Pac-12 Conference in July 2026, Leaving WCC
Oct 1, 2024, 02:43 PM
Gonzaga University is set to join the Pac-12 Conference, leaving the West Coast Conference (WCC). Multiple sources confirmed that an official announcement is expected today. This move marks the end of Gonzaga's long-standing affiliation with the WCC, where it has been a member for over 45 years. The Pac-12, which has recently focused on expanding its basketball prowess, will now include Gonzaga, a non-football school. The addition of Gonzaga brings the Pac-12 to eight full members, although it still requires an eighth football member to meet FBS conference requirements. The decision was approved by Pac-12 leaders last night. Gonzaga will leave the WCC in July 2026. The Pac-12 will now have two programs, Gonzaga and San Diego State, that have played in two of the past four title games of the NCAA Tournament.
