Senate Confirms Kevin Ritz as 6th Circuit Judge in 48-46 Vote
Sep 16, 2024, 11:38 PM
The Senate has confirmed Kevin Ritz, a longtime federal prosecutor in Tennessee, to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit in a 48-46 vote. Ritz, who has spent his entire career with the U.S. Attorney’s office and served as the U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Tennessee, replaces Judge Julia Smith Gibbons. This marks the 44th circuit court confirmation under President Biden and the 210th judge confirmed during his administration. Despite opposition from his home state’s Republican senators, Ritz received praise from both Democrats and Republicans. The confirmation vote took place at 5:30 p.m. on September 16. Ritz is from Memphis.
