Aug 4, 2024, 07:58 PM
American sprinter Noah Lyles has won the gold medal in the men's 100 meters at the Paris Olympics. Lyles secured his victory in a dramatic photo finish, edging out Jamaican sprinter Kishane Thompson by five-thousandths of a second with a personal-best time of 9.79 seconds. This win crowns Lyles as the world's fastest man and marks his first Olympic gold medal in the 100 meters. Fred Kerley of the United States took the bronze with a time of 9.81 seconds. Lyles' victory ends the longest Olympic men's 100m gold-medal drought in U.S. history and makes him the first American man to win any flat sprint since LaShawn Merritt in 2008.
