Reds Fire Manager David Bell After Six Seasons; Freddie Benavides Named Interim
Sep 23, 2024, 02:21 AM
The Cincinnati Reds have fired manager David Bell after six seasons with the team. The decision comes following a disappointing 2024 season in which the Reds missed the playoffs and recorded their 81st loss. Bench coach Freddie Benavides will serve as the interim manager for the final five games of the season. This move comes barely a year after Bell was given a contract extension through the 2026 season. A press conference with General Manager Nick Krall is scheduled for 11 am ET Monday. The Reds are considering Miami Marlins manager Skip Schumaker as a potential replacement. The firing was announced Sunday night.
