BJP Links Ex-Youth Congress Leader Tushar Goyal to Rs 5,600 Crore Delhi Drug Bust
Oct 3, 2024, 07:36 AM
Delhi police have seized drugs worth approximately Rs 5,600 crore in a major bust, with the alleged kingpin identified as Tushar Goyal, also known as Dicky Goyal. Goyal is reported to have served as the chairman of the Right to Information (RTI) Cell of the Delhi Pradesh Youth Congress until 2022. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has seized upon this development to attack the Indian National Congress, alleging links between the party and the drug syndicate. BJP leaders released an appointment letter purportedly showing Goyal's position within the Congress and highlighted photos of him with senior Congress leaders, including Deepender Singh Hooda and the Haryana Congress president. BJP national spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi stated, "More concerning is that the main accused, Tushar Goyal, is the chief of the Indian Youth Congress's RTI cell. This raises serious questions." The BJP questioned whether the drug money was intended for use in upcoming elections, particularly in Haryana, and demanded answers from the Congress leadership, including the Gandhi family. The Congress acknowledged that Goyal was previously associated with the party but refuted the allegations of wrongdoing, suggesting that the BJP is making unfounded claims due to fears of losing the Haryana elections.
