Explosion at Beth Yaacov Synagogue in La Grande-Motte Injures Officer, Investigated as Terrorism
Aug 24, 2024, 11:53 AM
An explosion outside the Beth Yaacov synagogue in La Grande-Motte, southern France, has injured a police officer and damaged vehicles. The incident occurred after two cars, one containing a gas cylinder, were set on fire, leading to the explosion. French authorities, including Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin, have labeled the act as a criminal attack, and the national Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor's Office is investigating. The suspect, reportedly seen on CCTV wearing a Palestinian flag and a keffiyeh, and possibly carrying a gun, remains at large. French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal condemned the incident as an antisemitic attack, and security measures around Jewish places of worship have been increased.
