19-Year-Old Texas USAFA Cadet Avery Koonce Found Dead in Dormitory

Avery Koonce, a 19-year-old cadet from Taylor, Texas, was found unconscious in her dormitory at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs on Wednesday night. Despite life-saving efforts by first responders, she was pronounced dead. Koonce, a graduate of Thrall High School, had begun her studies at the academy this year, planning to major in biology and minor in kinesiology with hopes of becoming a pilot physical therapist. Officials announced Thursday that an investigation into her death is currently underway.
