SpaceX Ends 2024 With 134th Launch, 93 From Florida, Enhancing Starlink With Direct-to-Cell Satellites

SpaceX successfully concluded its 2024 launch schedule with the final Falcon 9 mission of the year, launching 21 Starlink satellites, including 13 with direct-to-cell capabilities, from NASA's Kennedy Space Center on Dec. 31 at 12:39 a.m. EST. This mission marked SpaceX's 134th launch of the year, surpassing the previous year's total by 38 missions. The Falcon 9 first stage booster, B1078, completed its 16th flight, landing successfully on the droneship 'Just Read the Instructions' in the Atlantic Ocean. The launch contributed to the record-breaking year for the Space Coast, with a total of 93 orbital launches from Florida, exceeding the 2023 record of 72 launches. SpaceX's efforts in 2024 included 89 dedicated Starlink launches, adding over 300 Tbps of capacity to the Starlink network and expanding its customer base by more than 2.6 million globally.
