Biden: Bavarian Nordic Secures USD 63 Million U.S. Contract for Jynneos Mpox Vaccine
Sep 24, 2024, 03:57 PM
Bavarian Nordic has been awarded a USD 63 Million contract by the U.S. government to produce additional bulk product and final freeze-dried doses of its mpox and smallpox vaccine, Jynneos. This order is part of the U.S. effort to combat the mpox outbreak in Africa, with President Biden emphasizing the need for swift action, stating 'let's move quickly'. The U.S.-donated doses will primarily come from a stockpile in the United States, adding to the 60,000 previously donated shots. Bavarian Nordic is currently producing 500,000 doses for African countries.
