Mistral AI Launches Codestral-22B, an Open-Weight Generative AI Model for Coding in 80 Languages
May 29, 2024, 04:05 PM
Mistral AI has launched its first-ever generative AI model for coding, named Codestral-22B. This open-weight, state-of-the-art model is trained on more than 80 programming languages and boasts a 32,000-token context length. Codestral-22B is designed to outperform other open-source code models, including larger ones like LLaMA 3 70B and DeepSeek Coder 33B. It excels in Python and SQL and is available under the Mistral AI Non-Production License, which allows for non-commercial use and research. The model is accessible through various platforms, including Mistral's API, Le Chat, and VS Code integration. Codestral-22B is praised for its performance in benchmarks such as RepoBench and HumanEval, and it supports diverse coding capabilities like fill-in-the-middle. The model is currently free to use during an eight-week beta period. Mistral AI, backed by Microsoft, aims to revolutionize coding with this new release.
