Aug 21, 2024, 07:30 PM
A Kentucky man has been sentenced to 81 months in federal prison for hacking into state death registry systems, including Hawaii's, to fake his own death. The man, whose actions were partly motivated by a desire to avoid paying over $116,000 in outstanding child support, was sentenced on Monday, according to authorities. The case was prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Eastern District of Kentucky. The man admitted to creating a fake death certificate to evade his financial obligations.
