Biden Administration Announces $4.3 Billion in EPA Climate Grants to 30 States
Jul 22, 2024, 02:00 PM
The Biden administration has announced a significant investment of $4.3 billion through the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to fund climate pollution reduction projects across 30 states and one tribe. This funding, part of the Inflation Reduction Act, will support 25 projects targeting greenhouse gas emissions from transportation, electric power, commercial and residential buildings, industry, agriculture, and waste management. Notable allocations include $430 million for Illinois to achieve 100% carbon-free power by 2045, $328 million for Colorado to support decarbonization and increase energy efficiency, nearly half a billion dollars for Southern California to reduce emissions from goods movement, $450 million for Rhode Island, and $396 million for Pennsylvania. Additionally, $500 million will be used to reduce pollution from port equipment in Los Angeles and Long Beach. These investments aim to advance environmental justice, create new jobs, and improve public health.
