Walmart Launches 30-Minute Prescription Delivery Nationwide, Challenging Amazon, CVS, and Walgreens

Walmart has announced the launch of nationwide same-day prescription delivery, promising to deliver medications to U.S. homes in as little as 30 minutes. Beginning in six states—Arkansas, Missouri, New York, Nevada, South Carolina, and Wisconsin—the service will expand to cover 49 states, excluding North Dakota, by the end of January, reaching over 86% of U.S. households. The initiative utilizes Walmart's expansive store footprint and also includes grocery delivery. Walmart+ members will receive free delivery, while non-members will pay $9.95 per delivery. This move aims to capture a larger share of online spending and compete directly with Amazon Pharmacy, as well as capitalize on the struggles of rivals CVS and Walgreens, which are closing hundreds of stores nationwide. Following the announcement, Walmart's stock climbed toward a record high.
