Supreme Court Rules Against NEET-UG 2024 Retest, Impacting 24 Lakh Students
Jul 23, 2024, 11:47 AM
The Supreme Court has ruled against the cancellation and retest of the NEET-UG 2024 examination, despite controversies surrounding the exam. The court stated that there was no evidence of a systemic breach or mass malpractice that would justify canceling the entire exam. The decision was influenced by the significant impact a retest would have on the 24 lakh students who appeared for the exam. The court acknowledged that while there were issues such as the NEET paper leak in Hazaribagh and Patna, these did not warrant a complete retest. The Supreme Court received a report from IIT-D experts confirming that there was only one correct answer to the disputed Physics question, further supporting their decision. Chief Justice of India (CJI) noted the social ramifications of the decision.
