Jul 10, 2024, 05:00 AM
Kroger and Albertsons have released a comprehensive list of stores, distribution centers, and plants they plan to divest to secure regulatory approval for their proposed merger. The divestiture includes nearly 600 stores across the U.S., with significant numbers in states such as California, Illinois, Texas, Washington, Arizona, and Nevada. Notably, the list includes 35 Mariano’s and Jewel-Osco stores in Illinois, 63 stores in California, 28 stores in Texas, 124 stores in Washington, and 101 stores in Arizona. The stores will be sold to C&S Wholesale Grocers. The divestiture also includes fuel centers and pharmacies associated with the divested stores, which will continue to be operated by C&S. The merger is currently under scrutiny by the Federal Trade Commission and several state attorneys general for potential anticompetitive practices.
