Jan 6, 2025, 03:39 AM
'SHŌGUN' swept the 2025 Golden Globe Awards, winning all four categories it was nominated for, including Best Television Series – Drama. The FX/Hulu historical drama, which delves into the world of feudal Japan, secured acting accolades for its lead and supporting cast. Hiroyuki Sanada, who also serves as a producer on the series, won Best Actor in a Drama Series, following his Emmy win for the same role, marking him as the first Japanese actor to receive a Golden Globe in this category. Anna Sawai earned Best Actress in a Drama Series, adding to her recent Emmy win, and Tadanobu Asano was awarded Best Supporting Actor in a Television Series. In his acceptance speech, Sanada urged young actors and creators worldwide to "believe in themselves and never give up." Sawai expressed her gratitude humorously by saying, "Thank you to the voters for voting for me, even though I would vote for Kathy Bates any day," acknowledging her fellow nominee. 'SHŌGUN' emerged as the most awarded series of the night, highlighting its significant impact on both audiences and critics. The series' success underscores the global appeal of its portrayal of Japan's rich history and the exceptional performances of its cast.
