Walmart Rolls Back DEI Policies, Closes Racial Equity Center Amid Conservative Pressure
Nov 26, 2024, 01:48 AM
Walmart, the world's largest retailer and the nation's largest private employer, announced it is rolling back its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies following pressure from conservative activists, including Robby Starbuck. The company will wind down its Center for Racial Equity, discontinue the use of the term 'DEI', ban the term 'Latinx' from communications, and prevent sellers from listing some LGBTQ-themed items on its website. Walmart is also removing inappropriate sexual and/or transgender products marketed at children. Other corporations such as Boeing, Ford, John Deere, Toyota, Microsoft, Molson Coors, Starbucks, Lowe's, Brown-Forman, and Tractor Supply Co. have also begun scaling back their DEI initiatives.
