Elon Musk's xAI Releases Grok 2 with Image Understanding

xAI, the artificial intelligence company founded by Elon Musk, has announced that its Grok AI model now has image understanding capabilities. Released today, Grok 2 allows users, including paid subscribers on the X social platform, to upload images and ask the AI chatbot to interpret and analyze them. The feature enables Grok to detect objects, extract text, and explain the meaning of visual content, including jokes within images. This development follows an xAI hackathon and represents a significant step toward multimodal functionality for the AI model. The company notes that this is an early version and anticipates rapid improvements in the near future.
