Walmart, World's Biggest Retailer, Cuts DEI Programs, Pride Funding, and LatinX Use
Nov 26, 2024, 12:16 AM
Walmart, the world's largest retailer, is scaling back its diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives, following pressure from conservative activists. The company has decided to discontinue the use of the term DEI, ban the use of 'LatinX' in communications, and is reviewing funding for Pride events. This move comes amidst a broader trend where major corporations like Starbucks, Ford, John Deere, Boeing, Toyota, Microsoft, Molson Coors, Harley-Davidson, Lowe's, Brown-Forman, and Tractor Supply Co. are also adjusting or reorganizing their DEI programs. Walmart has also stopped participating in Human Rights Campaign (HRC) surveys.
